Americans have a problem with literacy: hence why some will write “axe” when they mean “ask”. It’s just spelled the way they say it. When someone asks what the date is, i always start with the day first. Then month, then year. Sometimes i will start with the day of week.

I’d rather say that it’s the 31st of December
