I see a couple better options:

    1, pay reasonably

2, don’t pay but don’t require people to do the work either

How about pay reasonably and don’t require people to do the work? I find it insane that Americans defend slave labor.

They’re in prison… forced labor isn’t unreasonable in that situation, but doing so while not paying for the time jumps right to slavery though. That’s why they’re even giving 23 cents, so they can claim it isn’t slavery even though it still is at that amount.

Uhh… prison? There should be standards for treatment better than there are, but it’s not supposed to be happy fun time. It’s prison.

You didn’t really answer the question. What do you think prison should be like? And what do you think prison should be for?

Right now in the US it’s slave labor for corporations and suppression of certain demographics. The US is dystopian, I’m currently in a “third world country” and when I describe life in the US people are appalled.

Rehabilitation mainly, permanent accommodations for some. Basic needs taken care of, meaning soap toothpaste a couple changes of clothes etc. Basic food needs met. Anything more than that they’ll work for fair pay to pay for it. Any restitution would be taken out of the pay, limited to a percentage.

Deadlock necklaces are also appealing but I’d rather see those used on politicians.
