Sounds about right, people were just getting comfortable with the nomenclature and licensing.
To be fair Azure Active Directory was a stupid name for a product that only had a passing resemblance to AD proper.
I’m starting to think Microsoft’s marketing department gets incredibly bored lol. Like the time they renamed Lync to Skype for Business.
Microsoft needs to focus on finishing preview features and improving stability instead of rebranding and rearranging admin portals… I’m checking the M365 and Azure health dashboard for issues almost daily now!
And updating their documentation to match reality. I recently completed an on-prem Skype to Teams Voice migration with hybrid exchange and figuring out the technical requirements was a nightmare because half the things referenced in docs.microsoft don’t even exist anymore.
This is informative, and unfortunate.
My exact thoughts were “Why in the world… Just… A name change? Really?”
