Your likelihood of dying to a gun and specifically that gun skyrocket, and there is little in the way of evidence for it being effective self defense (that I have found): https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/slightly-blighty/201601/does-owning-gun-protect-you I can understand wanting to feel protected and safe, but introducing an efficient killing device into the situation may not be the safest choice.
