    Surprised the crusaders haven’t appeared yet saying “American” includes every country in the Americas… Canadians, Mexicans, Panamanians, Brazilians etc etc :-)

      Every Canadian I’ve ever met doesn’t like to be called American. Don’t know about the other countries, but I’d assume it’s the same.

          I think some just dislike that one country claims the demonym of two whole continents.

            Well South Africa is not the only country in the south of Africa if we are gonna go around getting bent out of shape by such petty shit. The other countries in the Americas all have their own distinctive names and don’t want to be called americans, it’s a non issue

        Wait, when David Bowie sang “I’m Afraid of Americans,” was he singing about us Canadians too?? This never even occurred to me as a possibility.

      I’m quite happy not placing myself in the same American bucket, not sure why anyone would say that.

      If everyone on two continents is an American, then how are people from the one country literally called America supposed to differentiate themselves?
