I’m more concerned about the potential dangers of uncontrolled neoliberalism aligning with fascism than a society striving for equal rights and environmental protection.

It’s bewildering how people can demonize socialism while facing daily struggles to make ends meet in an unhinged capitalist society.

Capitalism brings disparity, but it seems like more people are happy with the idea that what they earn is theirs. It also seems like less people are impoverished. Are people poor? Yes. Are many people preyed upon by corporations? Yes. Unhinged society? I’d argue not. If you’re talking about the US, I’d say we are quite far from fascist as well

Well, historically socialist governments have killed a lot of people. So I understand why there is concern. One can be concerned about rising fascism, the ravages of capitalism, and also authoritarian socialist movements.

That said, I am more concerned with whether an individual policy is good and helps people than whether ideologues categorize it as socialist, capitalist, or otherwise. In the current political context, I find myself agreeing with socialists often, even if I don’t necessarily support their vision of the ideal government.
