Also, what bugs me about this is that your text editor is not “fedora/gnome/whatever” or “FUCKING LINUX” it’s just a text editor. Often, they don’t even install with a spell check dictionary. I guess it would fall under “whatever” but, eh, not in that context.

Nah come on. Fedora and Gnome have to be aware to be very big Linux related projects and of course both have a responsibility for the default applications they ship; i.e. it shouldn’t be malware and neither should it be shit.
The Linux desktop community has to pick up users where there are if this all is supposed to be actually used. As is „users“.
