A digital camera with flash media ,ultra expensive for the era even a 2mb one . Plus you need a dedicated software for copy the picture with a very slow serial port .
Removable flash storage even more expensive .
Floppy are dirt cheap . And per floppy it’s around 5~6 picture (or 15 second of video )

Probably just old ones that never broke. They were pretty sturdy and basic. I think they used AA batteries.
They use Removable battery they are still made some camera or photo camera use them .
That’s like super cool! Must’ve been a pain carrying around a bunch of floppy disks if you wanted to travel with it though
