My old person trait is that I think ‘ghosting’ is completely unacceptable and you owe the other person a face-to-face conversation.

    1. Videos should be landscape, 4:3 preferably, not portrait.
    2. When I turn on a computer, it should be ready (and pref say READY) in a few seconds, not minutes and need Internet access.
    3. Email should be fully punctuated, have correct grammar and a premise, argument, and conclusions.
    4. I’m tolerant on short SMS or pager texts, but if it’s used as immediate mail, all texts, IM, and social media messages should also be like #3.

Agreed. Except the part about 4:3 video. That’s just upsetting to think about. “Widescreen” (anywhere from 16:9 to the 1.85:1 often used in movies) is acceptable, 4:3 is far too cramped for a pleasant viewing experience.

If you’re watching on anything other than certain laptop screens, you’re likely to have pillarboxing which is just wasted space that could be beautiful landscapes, helpful information, or artistic framing.

As someone who’s been computer bound for the last 30 years it was a big shock that when I recently dropped a hefty sum on my latest pc with all the top of the line processor, gpu, cooling, and more memory and power than I’ve ever had at my fingertips… and it takes 3 and a half minutes longer to load than my last one and is sensitive to electrostatic discharge causing bsod shutdowns.
