Why do they feel the need to show suggestive sex positions? french kisses every thumbnails lines ???
I was looking for some Miyasaki films (eg: Porco rosso, Chihiro) for my kids and those are not available in the “family/kids” curated profile.
So, I had to create a new profile, I open the search view and the first FUCKING thumbnail is a couple having sex, suggestive but still! And it continues each time I iterate my research.
Between the nihilistic, the lowbrow sex or serial killer shit , there’s nothing really. Increasing price, removing shared account is not a cure to a sucky catalog!
Fuck you Netflix
ventilating…
**EDIT: ** I forgot to mention in the first post version that Porco Rosso, Chihiro and other Miyazaki are actually only available in the non family/kids profile, that’s why I’m furious.
Cast from your phone.
That stuff is mostly an issue in the rather puritan US. People don’t really think like that elsewhere.
I assume they are not making specific “clean” or censored version just for the US.
Netflix drove many people to leave piracy, and now they’re driving them right back to it again.
Way to go guys.
The circle is complete.
Xhamster better stories, better french, better greek, better spain and I hope no hamsters…
But probably a few hamsters.
Nah, you clicked x on hamsters, clearly.
They can’t hear you unless you cancel the service
This! I cancelled Netflix the same day they raised their prices and never looked back. Was it inconvenient? Sure! But I found a way to cope. Society needs to relearn how to speak with their wallets instead of their mouths. Complaints go unheard otherwise.
💀
Your dollar isn’t as important as you think.
Advocate for owning the media you consume as well.
I bought a NAS and am in the process of ripping all the physical media I already own for my Jellyfin server.look at me, I am the streaming platform now.
I cancelled over the password sharing nonsense and also their shitty stance on the writer’s strike.
I haven’t missed Netflix, even a little bit.
Time to set sail!
Wait a second. Is there decent sex on Netflix? Where is it?!
No, just thumbnails that suggest there is
Ah, the old 'bate and switch.
That’s actually an entirely different site. Lots of leather.
Imagine being Ace in this world! I seriously can’t - sex is fucking EVERYWHERE thanks to marketing.
Are you simply disinterested in sex or disgusted by it. If the former seems like it would be easy to ignore what you see. If the later that seems like something other than your sexuality is at play.
You can be disgusted by the surplus of something you don’t care about.
Like I’m disgusted with sports. Not on Lemmy, I don’t really see it here unless I’m on All. But in daily life, it’s everywhere. I can’t fucking stand it. I don’t wanna see it hear about sports leagues or conferences, or athletes.
I like to see a little bit of Olympics, but that’s it. And only then because it’s the top people doing their thing, potentially seeing records for it. As for professional stuff, it needs to just die off, honestly. Meatheads shouldn’t get college degrees paid for just cuz they “throw ball good”.
Fucking disgusting. And I’m tired of pretending it isn’t.
Sounds like an American issue “college sports” aren’t a thing elsewhere.
I feel like if you’re ace you won’t be aroused so it’s even less of a problem, no?
They could be sex-repulsed, which I imagine would make them disgusted maybe? I don’t know I’m not asexual
Sex repulsed seems like more of a psychological issue than a form of sexuality.
“You have been infected with Calvinism. Cures range from education to lobotomy.”
I feel like you’d run into similar stuff anywhere you go. That’s why there are kids profiles. I imagine Netflix at least does a better job routing out suggestive content than YouTube does.
I forgot to precise that Porco Rosso, Chihiro and other Miyazaki are actually available in the non family/kids profile, hence my little breakdown
What’s Netflix? Ah right that service i cancelled over a year ago.
They’re playing on the latent puritanism in US culture. The only reason it’s done is because it pushes peoples buttons and draws interest. The other options are what you see over seas, where either free speech is harshly curtailed, or people get over it, and advertisers stop because it doesn’t cause concerned citizens to lose their shit any more.
This dude is drawing entirely from puritanism so
Sail the high seas, my friend
I was talking to my friends about the same topic yesterday and they didn’t seem to bothered by it.
On a different note, even some music videos that are coming out these days have really suggestive content and Youtube puts this shit right in the front page (for a not signed in session).
We live in a world where people are getting too used to messed up stuff.

I actually meant music videos like Cardi B’s WAP which is not even age restricted in Youtube.
How is that substantively different from the videos I linked?
They do have similar themes but the video I linked clearly has more explicit visuals.
Adults may see it as normal, but I certainly don’t want my kids to watch videos like WAP and get normalized to the such visuals and nudity.
Youtube should properly age restrict videos based on their visuals at least.
I’m sure you understand what I’m getting at.
I don’t really. I police my children’s YouTube use, and don’t want a program doing it for me.

I read a post from Netflix tech blog explaining the selection of a thumbnail. A video has many thumbnails and Netflix picks one for you depending on the shows you watch and your country. From the new profile watch movies / series that are unrelated with romance and the thumbnails should hopefully change.
In the US, at least, if you’re looking for Myasaki films, they’re going to be on Max and not Netflix.
