Why is the Chinese government giving a us company money? Why is it giving a muti billion euro company enough money to buy multiple companies? I thought China was a communist country. Tankies, help me out here please.
China is communist in name only. They are state-capitalist.
Hey, there’s a name for that.
Something about everything within the state, nothing against the state?
I thought China was a communist country
That was the main mistake.
Wait so americans wanted to solve trade imbalance with China, that is overreliance on import from China and indirectly reliance on the Chinese influence… By selling out control over American companies? Capitalists are dumb.
capitalists care about themselves as individuals, not companies or countries
as a capitalist I’d be worried to hand over my profit-producing assets to another capitalist, who has delusions that he is a caesar of the world’s most important empire (this applies both to Xi and to Trump, mind you, probably that’s why Koch brother has recently announced a multimillion fund to prevent Trump presidency)
I think Goldman Sachs should be exempt from taxation for all the good they do around the world.
We should be paying them tbh
da dum tiss
I’m… having trouble accessing the archive.is link… and a quick search says it’s on financial times… which is a massive paywall… anybody have a link that’s working?
That’s kinda what investment companies do. They take client money and invest it. This is one of the dumber China scare stories I’ve seen recently, and that’s saying something.
A bit disingenuous, given the difference in oversight between a foreign firm’s investments vs a native’s.
I’m paywalled and don’t actually care, but the question should be “In what industries, and if they’re sensitive, with what protections of national interest?”
