Good. In New Zealand, the cats are decimating the birds and other endangered animals there. We already have a possum problem and have poison everywhere because it’s worth risking the lives of other animals to curb the damage invasive possums are doing.

The most successful predator known to man I believe. And they hunt for sport. I love my cats, but they watch the birds through the windows.

Living in New Zealand, I sit pretty solidly in the “This is a good idea, but how the fuck?”

There should be at minimum a pet licensing scheme, I’d prefer just banning dogs and cats.

I’m convinced that most people who have dogs have got it as a fashionable thing to do rather than having a strong affinity to raising and caring for an animal.

When I walk in the park I see so many fat dogs or dogs that will have health problems (pugs, labradors, dachshund). IMO it’s cruel to purchase a breed for pure aesthetics that will have a diminished life.

Then there are the highly athletic dogs that should really be working on a farm, I don’t think the CBD is an appropriate place for that type of highly active dog.

I also see winter coat dogs, huskies/malamutes, I live in a temperate city where summers can reach 35 Celsius ….cruel.

I realise this is about cats, but any cat I see outside should not be there. This ban is long overdue. Cats should never roam freely outside.

TL;DR just so many dogs that are inappropriate for the city or owned by people who DGAF.
