I’ve been saving good memes all this time and now I have a place to post them.
A good meme belongs to no platform.
Half of Reddit’s content is twitter/facebook/4Chan Screenshots anyway, just repost it if you find it funny
Turns out the M in DMCA stands for memes in 2023 :(
Just repost it here. I’m getting tired of seeing the word ‘reddit’ on here, and those of us that came over will know it’s a repost because we’ve seen it before. Just don’t claim it’s OC if it’s not.
I’ve been posting some recipes that I had saved from over there and I just post an archive link to the original page.
Okey. I have a million of meme since I delet reddit. I will repost those little by little with some original of mine. And say what is original and not. Thank!
Welcome to the internet! So exciting to have someone who’s brand new to how things work here.
Reposting is a long standing tradition on Reddit… I don’t see a reason that should change on Lemmy.
It’s not just a question about memes. If you see content on Reddit for your favorite topic or game, you should 100% replicate that data over to Lemmy.
If there’s a good duplication of content in both places, it makes it easier to move completely over to Lemmy.
Of course i’m stealing memes from reddit. It’s the least compensation i could get.
As long as we’re trying to build content on this network, either way is fine with me. Chances are it’ll be a little while before we have the scope of community to make original memes en masse in here first.
Why would it be a bad thing to “steal” a meme from another platform? For one thing that’s literally the whole point of memes, to be shared around. I’d wager well over half the memes on reddit were “stolen” from some other platform
For another, taking content from reddit and posting it here just ensures that Lemmy has plenty of content to interact with. There are relatively few “original” meme creators compared to the amount of people willing to repost them, and even those are relatively few compared to the people who just want to look at them. The people who can be bothered to make their own memes usually care a lot more about the imaginary internet points involved, and so are naturally going to gravitate to platforms that have more users (which is to say, not lemmy).
I’m all for reposting memes or askreddit threads, etc to lemmy. Good content is good content!
