War is bad, but I love the planes.
Fun fact: one of them is named Spirit of Kitty Hawk, after the place where the Wright brothers flew.
Another fun fact: Apollo 11 (first humans on the moon) brought with them a piece of the original Wright Flyer. So that scrap of wood was both a part of the first powered flight and the first landing of humans on another world.
The piece of wood is currently on display at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, right next to the rest of the Wright Flyer.
Imagine either one or both of the Wright brothers seeing and then trying to fly one of these after being told that these are also aeroplanes, but from the future.
These are so alien looking and I’m sure they’re peculiar as hell to fly, but I would also imagine that the Wrights would just be incredulous for a while, but then take it in stride and study them. They could probably even fly them decently well after some instruction time, who knows.
The speed at which humanity refined flight after the Wright brothers is truly amazing.
Nice shot. Did you take this picture? What did you use?
I took this with a Sony A7 and a Sony FE 200-600mm zoom lens.
