Time crystals are a thing, they’re just not that thing.
But also any crystal used in a clock is a time crystal.

Solid matter physics would be a more straightforward name - it’s just the physics of matter that isn’t liquid or gas, which usually means crystals.
In Czech, they used to be called “křemenné hodiny”, which has the same ring to it. If you told someone these words today, they would imagine a clock meticulously carved out of a quartz block.
