Israel’s foreign ministry sent a cable telling its diplomats to make all efforts to get the case dropped, warning of consequences for South Africa otherwise

I think in this case it’s a bit personal.

Old South Africa gave Israel the research needed to complete their nukes and return they generally supported the Apartheid government, not imposing economic sanctions on them and providing backchannel support.

Since Mandela took power in 1994, there hasn’t been entirely friendly relations between SA and IS.

I mean that’s interesting and surely adds to it but I’m pretty certain the main reason is that Israel doesn’t want to get sentenced by a human rights court for committing genocide.

Weird how the government of a former freedom fighter who was imprisoned for 27 years by an Apartheid regime wouldn’t be very friendly with the friends of that Apartheid regime, another Apartheid regime!

The only good thing this bot ever does is tell people to check sources themselves.

Maybe replace it with a bot that only does exactly that. Every newsworthy post gets a bot comment with “Please be a responsible, media literate person and check sources of things you read.”

Or a dedicated section in the comments to discuss the source. That would accomplish everything this bot claims to without relying on a shitty, biased third party.

I think this has important ramification for all non white Americans. The response to this will show, whether non white people are allowed to demand justice, or whether just asking a court to rule on a case, so the mere access the judicial system, is reserved to white people alone.

It does not matter if the face of an administration or party is black, asian, a woman or of whichever marginalized group. The fundamental question is:

Will people outside the white supremacy be allowed to seek justice from an independent court or not?
