Something cool, all the boomers just say gardens, bushes, trees, shrubs, grass. Why add those extra chores to my life for something that useless.

Thinking about backyard DIY skatepark, or a gym pit.

Why add those extra chores to my life for something that useless.

Because the people who suggest them don’t see them as chores.

You do, so don’t do that.

    Build what you want.

Thinking about backyard DIY skatepark, or a gym pit.

I assume you are a regular at the local skate park and gym now.

You could do an obstacle course or pieces of one, like a balance beam, monkey bars, gymnastic rings. Some people do full-on ninja warrior shit. And it’s also possible to put in drought-tolerant or native plants that mostly only require work in the first couple years of getting established.

Looks like you might want something non-traditional so without knowing anything about yiur budget, lifestyle, yard size, or HOA here’s some random ideas:

    • Dog/squirrel obstacle course
    • Ice rink (DIY/kit)
    • Chicken coop
    • Duck/koi pond
    • Miniature hedge maze
    • Observatory
    • Yurt

    • Put in awesome plants then. Trees like a giant sequoia so you can grief future neighbors after your death.
    • Bees, like an apiary set up.
    • Koi pond.
    • Replica of ancient roman mosaics .
    • bomb shelter
    • Outdoor bar ninja warrior course—

Why not a fruit tree? There’s so many to choose from. They come in all shapes and sizes, and it’s much nicer to have a practical tree that gives you free food rather than a purely decorative plant.

Edit: Forgot to say that they’re great for the bees and local ecology, too!

I like Cherry Trees. In Spring they have a nice white or pink blossom, then go back to bright green leaves.

How big is your yard dude??

If mine was big enough for a skate park, I’d probably put another house in it.

    Red dawn sequoia!!!

I’m getting 3 or 4 later this year. Working with an arborist to turn the back half of my years into a wooded forest and converting the rest to local native plants!

    Fuck grass!
