You delete comments here as well?
Oh, yeah, makes sence in that case. Thought it was some other general information, like troubleshooting info.
I can get behind stuff like this, sure, but not with stuff like I posted 😒. There was valuable info there that could’ve solved my problem in an instant, but I just had to go the long way around 😒.
Could I ask why you would delete your own comments after a week of two?
I managed to get pointed in the right direction, but no thanks to that user 😒.
Doesn’t matter, I have no idea who the user is.
I did… zero replies 😒. And I asked on reddit as well. Didn’t get an exact answer, but at least I got pointed in the right direction.
Not affect anyone, it will affect search engines… but, not much nore than that.
And the protests proved inaffective, as I initially thought and said to many, just move, no need to protest, just leave for Lemmy and leave your accounts. That was all that was needed and no protest in the world is gonna beat reddit or the admins that will just overried your NSFW settings. Leaving the platform says way more than protesting this or that.
And no, if the point of the protest was to just delete all info from reddit, then I would’ve never been behind that protest. The delete everything idea was promoted by some extreme protesters and unfortunatelly, some users went allong with that.
That’s not the point… it was eight there… right there, no need to dig deeper… and it wasn’t like a 30GB bluray rip went missing, it was just a few lines of text, a few very valuable lines of text… but no, some people thought it’s more imoortant to protest than the freedom of information 😒… info that they once shared BTW, no one forced them to do it, but no, some of the protesters thought it was a good idea yo delete all of the content and their accounts… please explain how this is a good idea.
Didn’t know where to put it… just thought might pass as a meme…
They’re gonna profit regardless if you leave the info there or not, AI has already scraped that info. The only ones that get the sharper end of the stick are users like you and me when troubleshooting.
Exactly my thoughts… just leave man, I left as well 🤷. They won’t get any more info from you but leave the info alone, it’s valuable when people troubleshoot online.
I asked the same question on the Void comm here, no replies 😒.
Some people just don’t get it, some subs will never shift over to Lemmy… ever. The Void sub is a perfect example, their sub is their help/troubleshooting forum. It’s a means to an end for them and the maintainers will never ever shift over here. Too unstable and unusuable for them. Basically, they don’t care about reddit policy or API pricing, it doesn’t affect them, it’s a niche sub. And the number of people on Lemmy that use Void is… just close to none… and even if there are some, they probably don’t know how to fix the problem I’ve been having since I asked and there were no replies. I litelarly copy/pasted the same title and text there, on reddit whwn I asked the question.
Oh really, and where are you searching for answers when troubleshooting, the library 😒?
Sorry, read it wrong 😁.
OK, will try that as well.
You don’t see the problem here… I’m sorry, I just can’t see a common ground on which we can discuss this problem.
And I have shared info for free as well, wheter it be reddit or some other place, doesn’t matter… and I will continue to do it… and it will never ever occur to me to delete said data from any site or social media, forum, whatever. Data and info is just too valuable IMO and not you or me has the right to remove it once it’s been shared. That’s my stand on things. Most people won’t agree with this, but this is my reasoning.
Dude, that’s not the point, the point is, the info was right there, and now, it’s not… it’s frustrating when you know that someone had the exact same issue as you and asked on reddit and there was a reply that solves the problem, but someone protesting thought it was a good idea to delete all of his/hers comments, plus the user 😒.
I agree with protesting, but this is just… excuse the language, but idiotic IMO.
Ummm… out of the loop.
I seriously doubt those truck drivers need a navigation system. The mobile home owners, maybe.
What in Davy Jones’ locker did ye just bark, ye scurvy bilgerat? I’ll have ye know I be the meanest cutthroat on the seven seas, and I’ve led numerous raids on fishing villages, and raped over 300 wenches. I be trained in hit-and-run pillaging and be the deadliest with a pistol of all the captains on the high seas. Ye be nothing to me but another source o’ swag. I’ll have yer guts for garters and keel haul ye like never been done before, hear me true. You think ye can hide behind your newfangled computing device? Think twice on that, scallywag. As we parley I be contacting my secret network o’ pirates across the sea and yer port is being tracked right now so ye better prepare for the typhoon, weevil. The kind o’ monsoon that’ll wipe ye off the map. You’re sharkbait, fool. I can sail anywhere, in any waters, and can kill ye in o’er seven hundred ways, and that be just with me hook and fist. Not only do I be top o’ the line with a cutlass, but I have an entire pirate fleet at my beck and call and I’ll damned sure use it all to wipe yer arse off o’ the world, ye dog. If only ye had had the foresight to know what devilish wrath your jibe was about to incur, ye might have belayed the comment. But ye couldn’t, ye didn’t, and now ye’ll pay the ultimate toll, you buffoon. I’ll shit fury all over ye and ye’ll drown in the depths o’ it. You’re fish food now!
Discovery is never gonna work on the fediverse. Info is too scattered. Sure, large servers will get discovered, but not smaller ones. They come and go, URLs change… it’s a mess.
