Surely any rational individual already acknowledges that subject as lunacy. The segment of people that after seeing the joke would fall victim to the conspiracy is bound to be smaller than the segment that find it mildly amusing.

Oddly enough, last year I used dish soap in the laundry for a few months without noticing, and nothing like this happened. I was surprised when I looked it up and saw this kind of thing as a common occurrence. Couldn’t believe I had picked up this container each weekend for months without noticing the picture of plates and glasses on the front.

I understand now these soaps are quite different from one another and the fact nothing happened to me is a fluke, so definitely don’t do this on purpose.

My client crashed twice when trying to add a link in to my comment, and then I’m frustration I neglected to add it when it when I wrote it the third time. I have edited the comment to reflect the fact that it’s a direct quote from a climate denying senator. Apologies.

You are right and I agree with you. I quickly wrote that comment and I doing so failed to get across my sarcastic quoting of Republican senator Ron Johnson. I have edited the comment with the appropriate correction.

If you take a look at geologic time, we’ve had huge climate swings… I think it’s far more likely that it’s just sunspot activity, or something just in the geologic eons of time where we have changes in the climate.

This is an example of dark patterns. It can also include multiple steps to ‘confirm’ a decision, where the confirm button is beneath the decline button, only for the final step to have the button locations (or colours, shapes, etc) reversed. It’s done on purpose to confuse people into giving up. Unfortunately, even if it works one time, it’s justifiable for the company to continue the practice.

What a prime example of how climate disasters will not be equal or evenly distributed.

A nation that puts out less than 3 tonnes of CO2 emissions per capita gets devastated while the powers that be in a nation outputting five times the emissions per capita sit and twiddle their thumbs, parroting whataboutisms.

Imagine how amazing you would feel as a child to have a possession of yours put on display at a museum. Even if it was temporary, you’d remember that for the rest of your days.

I’ve read the root comment a few times and cannot see what you’re huffing about. They didn’t say anything about the creation of the weapons.

So long as executives have a fiduciary responsibility to generate returns for the shareholders, they can dust their hands of making decisions that kill customers so long as a profit is made.

Agreed. The whole idea of these huge payouts could be eliminated and replaced with what exists for everyone else - severance pay. Calculated off a regulated minimum formula, based primarily on how long the person served the company.

I also agree with you that the top and bottom salaries should have a correlation. The C suite making the salary of a shelf stocker in one day should not happen. I think I could accept that the top gets somewhere around 10 or 20 times higher salary. Even 100x would be an improvement to the way it is now.

Like you point out, between stock options and whatever else, an executive salary could be a few hundred thousand, even if their total compensation is tens of millions. In fantasy land it would be nice if, once a company grows to a certain point, say a billion dollars in value, if it were required to convert to an employee owned cooperative entity.

It’s a shame things are the way they are. Maybe one day we won’t have politicians that can be bought. That’s a different discussion altogether.

In an ideal world, the penalties you describe are suitable. Though, gaming industry aside, for the executive level of most any corporation, being a scapegoat and handed a golden parachute is the worst case scenario for them leaving. In many cases floating across the street right into another executive position.

Jail time isn’t a likely outcome. It just isn’t the world we live in, unfortunately.
