Demos still exist, sure. Just not anywhere to the scale and pervasiveness that they used to. Nor do they come in cereal boxes.

I remember when virtually every single game allowed you to play a ‘Demo’ for free, so you could find out exactly what the gameplay is like in any game before playing it. They often came in my cereal boxes as a kid, or free to pick up at the checkout.

Were there a limited number of deaths in protests elsewhere that wasn’t Tiananmen? Yep, about 2-3 hundred across a few hundred cities. And that’s bad! But is also pretty dang small relative to the protest size, and happens in all major protests in all countries everywhere.

I read about Google already making it deliberately more difficult for addons to block under-the-hood trackers; do some ads not slip through uBlock on Chrome already nowadays?
