Yeah. The *key instances are fun to use. It doesn’t feel like using a business email.
Also, check out https://piefed.social/ - it’s not quite ready for the masses yet as it lacks many features, but damn it is so welcoming and friendly and fills me with hope for our future when I see those
Yes. Many people are too hung up on mastodon and lemmy to see that there are other software in fediverse. And if lemmy UI doesn’t quite work for one, they should try a different one. There’s no need to stick to the most popular software.
As for communities, there’s not much one can do about it.
Ok yes. I just checked and the new version is very fast compared to the version lemdroid uses.
The information density in the UI is crazy high.
Lemdro.id uses Photon as it’s default UI, but it’s incredibly slow and sometimes it doesn’t even load properly. As much as I love the polish, I wouldn’t recommend it as default UI. Using photon as an alternative UI is much better option.
For some reason I read the first part of the article in 60s news commentator voice in my head.
Also
For those potential members who’ve somehow figured out what they need from a server, it’s hard to understand which servers actually offer those things, either from outside the fediverse itself or from inside it but without a strong network.
Really important point.
There is Komikku for linux though it’s kinda limited to sources it supports. Komga is a nice self hosted option with support for Mihon and all the tachiyomi forks for android. There is a tachiyomi fork called Komikku (different from the linux app) that I like.
Does this work work for anything other than mastodon?
IMO The Fedi Origami looks waaay better than the 3 cat but holes
I had the same thought
The stabbing was literally live streamed and they were trying to block a very graphic footage to be viral on Twitter. I would have blocked the instance if any fediverse instance didn’t remove such a video from their platform.
X’s Global Government Affairs team described the outcome as a win for “freedom of speech”.
So I guess every upper level employee at deadbird site is just another Musk asskisser with the same demented view of free speech?
It’s showing me the same thing
sub.club is not aimed at servers but monetization of content from individual users. Opposing this doesn’t mean someone oppose supporting their home instance monetarily.
That’s exactly what I thought when I first saw this. The difference in that they market it as a fediverse extension.
If piefed decides to create an api later, I would prefer they did their own thing and try to be lemmy compatible. Looking at misskey, I think not forcing api to be compatible with the more popular service has many upsides.
Piefed doesn’t have an api, so no 3rd party client. You can use the PWA.
Are these relays similar to fediverse instances?
I just plugged in my Fire TV and tried running urusai.social on the default browser (Amazon Silk) installed in there. It’s not the best experience, but you can certainly use Mastodon, Misskey, Piefed etc. Also, you can install APK files in Fire TV. And I assume these will work on a Fire Tablet as well.
I would really love a more globalized development for misskey, but it is easier said than done. Majority of bug reports, release notes and even some comments are written in Japanese (yk kana/Kanji). It would take a lot more than translating the documentation. It is hard to even report a bug (without worrying if there is a bug report already present in Japanese) let alone fix one.
