    Edit: The article contains the following statement.

    Two Palestinian prisoners associations said last week that 18 Palestinians … had died in Israeli custody over the course of the war.

    The article also indicates that at least 9,000 Palestinians are being held prisoner. If the average prisoner has been held for four months (about half the war) then the death rate of the prisoners is about the same as the death rate of free 50-year-old Americans. That’s actually quite low - I assume that while the average prisoner is significantly younger than 50, at least a few prisoners were captured after being seriously wounded. This doesn’t seem consistent with the claims in the article that prisoners are routinely being seriously injured and then receiving substandard medical care. Am I missing something?

      Well, for one, the 18 deaths I imagine are only the ones they know about. Like most info that puts them in a bad light, I don’t think the IDF would be very forthcoming with the actual numbers.
