Early mornings were too damp to paint. After mid morning, the roof was too hot to paint. Late afternoon seemed to be the only time that wasn’t dewy or too hot, so went for that time of day.
Applied the undercoat. Mostly OK except for the paint that got spilled on the driveway.
Started applying the top coat. Stepped on a wet bit and slid down the freshly painted roof wondering if I was going to fall off. I was using a rope and harness, but in some spots it doesn’t stop you falling off, it just stops you from hitting the ground. Caught myself on a screw just before my feet went over the gutter. Fixed up the messed up bit of the roof. Finished the job. Went inside and had a shower to get all of the brown paint off.
Came out in the morning to find that overnight dew had sent $600 worth of topcoat into my gutters and the roof was white again.
No, corrugated steel roof. Once the old paint fails the rain starts to eat away the zinc coating and eventually the steel underneath starts to rust. Best to repaint before that happens. Also, it’s more aesthetic. 🙂
Pressure cleaned the roof. No probs.

Called a painter to finish the job.
