ROME — The population of the Gaza Strip is suffering “unprecedented” levels of “near famine-like conditions” as the Hamas-Israel war drags on, the UN’s agriculture agency said Monday.

Some 550,000 people are now likely facing catastrophic food insecurity levels, while the whole population is in crisis mode, the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) said.

Israel has definitely weaponized this. They deliberately are preventing sufficient aid to reach Gaza, preventing the transport of this aid to the northern Gaza and as of recently started an active campaign to discredit UNRWA.

The UN is toothless, don’t expect anything from the UN. General rule is people don’t move to change their leadership (Hamas in this case) until they’re literally starving and that’s what Israel is hoping happens in Gaza so they don’t need to set up and run their own puppet government long-term.

And how exactly do you propose that the civilians of Gaza overthrow Hamas? Hamas have all the weapons and the majority of the population wasn’t born the last time they were allowed to vote, let alone old enough to vote.

Fact is that Hamas is not a normal government/army that can be defeated by conventional means but a terrorist organization. As such the worse the Israeli government abuses the Gazans, the easier it becomes for them to radicalize new recruits and the more power and influence they gain.

The current situation is exactly what Hamas wants and needs and the worse it gets and the longer it goes on, the better for them.
