That doesn’t look like popcorn to me, seems more mushy and wet. Maybe rice or some other grain and lentils or something?

Although is popcorn worse than say straight off a cob? Seems like it’d have less sugar at the least.

I’m pretty sure it’s popcorn, look at what I would describe as unpopped kernels in the pan on the right, and the shape of the objects in that pan, especially the broken piece. I could be mistaken.

As for your question, yes. Dry popcorn is awful for your fecal consistency, despite its high fiber content, and corn products are not very nutritious by themselves, needing e.g. squash and beans to compensate for each others’ deficiencies. I am speaking from personal experience and I am aware I am contradicting what you will find on a google search. I strongly recommend you do not try to eat just popcorn for two days straight because you’re depressed and lazy and it’s all you have in the kitchen cabinet. It is not complete or in any way adequate nutrition, and if that’s all these kids are getting they are malnourished already.

Better than nothing isn’t good enough here.

It’s not popcorn, it’s general grain. Corn isn’t really grown in Palestine

The picture on the bottom Is definitely steaming but there’s no distinct visual indication of texture with all that photo graininess. The one on the top appears to me to have distinct individual blobs in piles. I looked at the one on the right because it was closer and easier to make out shapes. What you can definitely make out in both of these photos are what appear to be kernel shells, especially in that bottom photo in the beam of light, on the bottom on the right. You can see that “kernel shell” is partially transparent, which gives an idea of its thinness. The colors are all exactly what you would expect for popcorn.

I could be mistaken, sure. I really hope I am.

They are probably eating everything they can find, considering they are living under famine. If there is a bag of popcorn in Gaza, they will eat it.

But I agree, this doesn’t look like popcorn to me.

It looks more like boiled grains like sorghum, buckwheat, farro, etc.

Popcorn doesn’t make sense given the region.
