Article Update: In less than 2 days, #Threads somehow gets even worse!

My feed is now all those interesting people, places, & publications that I followed on #Instagram over the years reacting & replying to celebrities & brands like Dunkin Donuts and fucking Paris Hilton.
Or worse, seeing celebrities & brands replying to each other.
Awesome. 😬
#meta #facebook #mastodon #fediverse #twitter #twittermigration @fediverse
So… The Twitter replacement is getting used like Twitter, by people (and brands) who bailed from Twitter?
Surprised face.
Don’t forget the VERY innovative and generous 500 character limit they’re enforcing. Wow. So much characters.
@RxBrad agreed, BUT with Threads, you see all these brands & celebrities in your feed even if someone you follow just likes something from them! You get assaulted by corporations!
So very thankful for the Fediverse.
Yeah, the forced algorithm is the worst.
Here’s my extremely unpopular opinion… Because they’re eventually Fediverse’ing, if you actually wanted to follow some of those brands/celebrities/orgs/etc, you could do so with a non-Threads Mastodon client and completely excise The Algorithm.
But, let’s just defederate instead, I guess, and remove that option.
I think a lot of people feel similarly, we’re just exhausted from all the pearl clutching in the fediverse.
I think it’s cool they’re federating. I’m excited to see some of that mainstream content without giving up so much of my personal info/data.
I’m also excited that there will be defederated places to go to if I don’t want to see/interact with the Meta crowd.
Mas.to has already planted their flag in the “we’re blocking anything Meta” camp. So now I get to jump through the hoops to migrate to a different server.
I even tried to spin up my own server last night. Unfortunately, I failed. Setting up Mastodon in Docker Compose + Portainer isn’t nearly as easy as other services.
@kobra@lemmy.world @RxBrad@lemmy.world - don’t forget the opportunity to raise of awareness of the FOSS fediverse as well. Interractions like this are what make me think that there might be a bright side to Threads federating
i love it
I basically logged in once. Long enough to post, “yo, this algorithm is gross”. Then went back to Mastodon.
