This was my best showerthought I left on reddit. I didn’t want to leave it into the oblivion.
Yeah but most knives aren’t actively plotting your demise.
most
More like mindlessly getting a child.
True story. One of my employees cats gave birth while she was working. Her boyfriend arrived home first and upon noticing the cat, went to check out the kittens. Well apparently the cat, who was always friendly prior, went absolutely cujo. The guy was wearing shorts and the cat just attached to his legs and shredded him. Apparently he like booted the cat a few times but it just kept coming at him. He ended up locking himself in the bathroom and had to climb out a window. The cat actually nicked an artery in his leg and he was bleeding significantly. Had to go to emergency. Apparently the bathroom looked like a war zone from what I was told.
Anyhow my cats always been good.
Holy frijoles. I can’t put a good spin on that, other than… I wish Shittywatercolour (a random redditor artist) had painted a pleasant drawing for you instead of my comment here.
It’s never a good idea to go near any animal that has just given birth. Since they were vulnerable for a time, they likely kick it up a notch, plus babies to protect. It’s even a crapshoot if the bonded person can come close.
It depends. If the animal really trusts you and knows you well, they might be comforted by you being there. But if that’s not the case, or if they show any negative signs, you need to give them space.
When I was a child our cat gave birth, and she kept crying for my mom whenever she tried to leave her side.
One of my cats started to give birth while next to me. I was still a kid and thought she peed on the sofa so I went downstairs to get something to clean the mess, the cat followed me while having contractions. My mom realised what was happening and told me to leave her alone, so I tried to get away but the cat still followed me while having half a kitten hanging out. So I stayed with her the whole time. Rip little old Lisbeth.
True, although dogs are generally way better with their litter around humans than cats are
That’s true. I’ve been around both. None were particularly aggressive to me but I was a kid when our dog had puppies but I know she was mean to mom. It was well known she didn’t like my mom though.
Dogs are friendly social animals. Cats are solitary murderers who put up with people because they get fed and massaged.
Mine will just bite your toes, but apart from that they are pretty mellow. Although one does bite my wifes ankles when she (the cat) is hungry.
What about mindlessly washing a cat?
In the words of Walter Sobchak:
You are entering a world of pain
Just as risky as petting a knife
Any pet knife owner will tell you about the risks involved with that.
Well if the mods didnt immediately delete it in reddit it must be at least a mediocre showerthought /s
Also some cats are really sensitive to stimulation. My old cat bit me really hard when I tried to pet his belly a few days after I adopted him. He drew blood and it was a decent bite. I knew I was the one in the wrong and let it go.
I’m glad I did because that cat was the sweetest and best companion I ever had. He never bit me or anyone else again like that and he is no longer sensitive to touching anywhere on his body. He also loved to get pet by strangers.
I miss you Mr. Bigglesworth 🥹
aw I use to know someone that had a cat named Mr. Bigglesworth too!
