Am not American and seeing that psychopathic looking face everywhere made browsing lemmy shit. Bro , am here for memes and tech news. Like, it was kinda entertaining watching the American political shitshow but the joke joke of “orange man with red eyes and funny psychopathic look” got old pretty quick.

I don’t use them but i’ll definitely see if any of the lemmy apps i use have keyword based filter. Can i copy and possibly share your filter list ? (maybe I’d share it in a post ) IMO, it should be add by default to lemmy apps so people who don’t care about American politics can block them outright.

Connect for lemmy and eternity both have keyword based filtering .

If anyone is interested, here’s the list in text format (i didn’t use some keyword to minimize collateral damage on actual world news posts that may be interesting ) :

gop, jan, maga, representatives, congress, biden, trump, desantis, far right, alt-right, democrat, democrats, republican, republicans

            Again, thank you.

In fairness, this is a pretty unique situation. How many other times have you seen ex-president mugshots?

That’s actually what annoys me the most. That stupid fucking face is going to be a famous image. It’ll be in text books for decades.

Not if you’re in “Some Blacks benefited from slavery” Florida 😭

I doubt a president getting arrested is that big of a history compared to abolishing slavery or a war.

It will be a footnote, or a quiz question for sure. But nothing more.

No pictures of that were in any textbooks I had. Things that paint the US in a negative light tend to be glossed over in US schools - at least, they were when I was in it ages ago. Can’t imagine that’s changed much.

Bruh, I’m pretty sure your textbooks covered Watergate, assuming you went to school after it.

Now, maybe your school and/or teacher sucked and tried to cram it into their one hour coverage of Vietnam, but it was in there, I promise.

(Unless you went to a religious school, then I’ll believe any claim you make but note that it isn’t typical)

I said that picture wasn’t in there, and “glossed over” doesn’t mean there was no negativity at all. Yes, Watergate was mentioned.

Fulton County Jail mugshot. Trump and 18 (?) other people have been charged in Georgia for attempting to change the 2020 election results there. Last night he had to turn himself in and post bail.

I’m just as much out of the loop as you, but I think a lot of people around Trump had to have Mugshots taken of them as part of a procedure surrounding ??? and that’s where my half knowledge ends ^^

Trump got his mugshot taken today at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, Georgia. This is his (fourth?) indictment, but the first one where he had to have a mugshot taken. His bond is $200000 USD.
