Why would you send authentication to a known good identity while on TOR? This literally defeats the purpose of anonymity.

You can still reduce some footprints, like your ISP will not know you are visitinh microsoft website. Otherwise ISP will know almost all your preferences and usage of each website

I’m not trying to be anonymous in this case. ProtonVPN and Windscribe don’t connect on my school’s WiFi, but Orbot punches a hole right through the firewall every time.

If your goal is to stay anonymous then you’re right. But I think Tor-ussage should be normalized, even if you’re not actively trying to hide your identity.

AFAIK tor wouldn’t be able to handle regular streaming of 4k movies, constant sending/receiving of e-mail, downloading of AAA videogames and uploading porn 1080p/60fps. Tor is an instrument which has its purpose. It’s like saying stirring tea with a screwdriver should be normalized.

Fully agree despite me not doing that. But for that to be more viable we would need more and faster nodes.

You have the right the browse sites anonymously, the school has a right to restrict access to where you access the mailboxes that they own on their system.

There’s nothing wrong or infuriating about that. And as another poster said, since Tor is designed to be anonymous, what good does it do you using an authenticated account? All it looks like from the schools POV is that your credentials were compromised and attempting to be used by a 3rd party since it can from Tor.

My dude. Just use Firefox for school then and use Tor for whatever it is you do. It will be okay.

If I were a sysadmin at your school there are two things I’m potentially seeing:

    1. it’s you since you logged into your account, making the use of Tor pointless. You have been identified. So I’d chuckle.

    2. somebody stole your credentials and I need to lock down your account.
