French President Emmanuel Macron called on parents to keep child rioters off the streets on Friday, while saying some young people appeared to be copying violent video games which had “intoxicated” them.
    […]
“It’s the responsibility of parents to keep them at home,” he said. “It’s not the state’s job to act in their place.”

In the rest of the world, video games are more typically blamed for young people staying home and not being active.

Its not the systemic racism and economic disparity. Its not the overreacting to terrorist threats. It’s not the billionaire class capturing government.

    Its video games.

The lack of demands and continued riots seemingly confound him, so in absence of any understanding, the old rich guy reaches for a familiar boogeyman.

The issue is, he didn‘t fix or improve shit after the previous riots, which even had some demands. Nothing got met, nothing defused, it just got pushed away. So incidents like this death can light a spark and then it gets unleashed again.

Perhaps it’s time we stop seeing these struggles as “lacking” something, but rather as determinate acts of negation with their own particular force, meaning, and history. To take seriously the content of struggles without demands, one must see them not as isolated events, but as moments within a history of developing antagonistic relations between capital and the life it subsumes.

I blame shitty politicians and corrupt police departments for the riots. I too am calling on all parents to step up and help out.

Can’t agree more. Macron has shown bad political stances around Russia issues, with this debunked gaming thing he’s officially delusional.

“The French’s longstanding history of political protest is caused by video games!” says out of touch talking-head for the elite

That’s right, King Louis was overthrown by CSGO and Call of Duty gamer kids, they are the reason why we have democratic and constitutional nation states in Europe now. Antoinette supposedly said: “Let them eat their Xbox”.

lol? The guy was a gangster, who refused to co-operate with police and was driving illegally and possibly a stolen / unregistered vehicle.

    He wasn’t a gamer…

The real issue are the gangs that have been allowed to thrive in Europe with weak laws and enforcement.
