“Horrified by the reports of a shooting in Southwest Philadelphia,” Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney tweeted.

“My heart is with the loved ones and families of everyone involved, and I send my prayers to the victims,” he added. “This devastating violence must stop.”

So yeah, thoughts and prayers I guess…

I don’t know if I would blame Kenney for this. Philly is a blue city with pretty strict gun laws, in a state who’s gun laws are an absolute joke.

Kenney signed an executive order banning guns in parks, recreation areas, etc, and it was blocked by a judge.

He didn’t even bother to give the thoughts, apparently they’re only worthy of the prayers.

The big picture: At least 339 mass shootings have occurred in the U.S. so far this year, per the Gun Violence Archive. It defines a mass shooting as a situation in which at least four people are shot and either injured or killed, not including the shooter.

Says someone was charged for returning fire? I’m curious about that, were they arrested for illegal firearm possession or was it something else?

Not charged, taken into custody, which makes sense; if there’s an active shooter situation and you find two shooters, grab both, ask questions later. The guy has since been released.

If a third good Samaritan came along and shot both of the first two people he saw shooting not knowing that the second guy wasn’t with the first guy, how would that play out in court?

        Shit is wild in America.

This just reminded me that I had the most American dream I could have had waking up on this 4th of july morning: a dream that I was in a mall where a mass shooting was taking place. I would like to leave this country lmao
