Y’know, assault is generally defined as causing a person to fear for their safety. What these cops were doing was absolutely assault, bumping into someone’s shoulder is not. Plus it kinda looks like a football play the aide, Freeland and the cop were playing.

Calling Menzies a “reporter” is playing fast and loose with the term. Also, someone tell Pierre to brush up on the charter. You’re allowed to have press, but you’re not allowed to harass people.

Had a microphone and a cameraman, asking questions, in a public space, of a politician. Sounds like reporter to me, not harassment. What the cop did is though. But why should you care? Nothing at all to every worry about if it’s only the civil liberties of people you disagree with get trampled, there’s not been cautionary tales about the results or nothing. Honestly, maybe you should “brush up on the Charter”, but i don’t think you give a shit about it. Fucking thing has so many loopholes and exceptions to personal rights anyways, it’s never much too help.

It’s rich that the conservatives are complaining about this, Harper did the same thing. It’s not a party issue it’s a politics issue.

I think they were referring to the Toronto Sun being a right bias paper.

Doesn’t matter either, that article itself wasn’t showing any signs. Unless he thinks it wasn’t newsworthy, which definitely would show someone’s got a bias.

So there is a thing you can do, publish some non biased articles, then start publishing more and more radical stuff and try to use the neutral as a buffer.

“Yeah , I am saying some crazy hateful shit, but look at my other articles, you can totally trust me and anyone saying different is just trying to discredit me.”

That was not an article, it was just a list of overreactions by right-wing personalities.

The article literally has quotes from PP saying this is what happens after 8 years of Trudeau. I’m not arguing with someone who can’t read their sources, this is literally what they want you to be arguing about instead of the fact that every PM in recent memory has used the RCMP as their personal protection squad.

I guess Harper is the one prevented me from sharing this article on Facebook? Aside from that, of course they have a Pierre quote, he’s the leader of the opposition. What I meant was, no one in this thread was making in about left or right till “BUT HAARPER” showed up. Like you expect me to say this shit is OK cause Harper did it? I don’t, I remember being pissed at his shit too.

Maybe his history of being arrested by police at other political events played a part in heightened tensions here. Not saying being an intolerable asshole warrants automatic arrest.

Also for anyone unfamiliar with the Toronto Sun, it’s our version of the Daily Mail in the UK.

Yeah I ain’t real familiar with him, but that’s irrelevant. This is straight up media intimidation, and the way that aide got out of the way so the cop could do his this thing leads to thoughts of co-ordination. If he was any real threat they wouldn’t have hung out 50 feet away waiting, they’re apparently her security detail.

They never have to do this to CBC journalists, cause they don’t ask any questions at all.

He was a bit aggressive. I don’t agree with the cop claiming he was assaulted though.
