Ok this one is a bit out there, so stick with me. For the unitiated, tumblr is the depressed gay artists website that yahoo drove into the ground by banning porn [its core content creators] sexy starving artists etc etc. ive been on there like, more than 10 years, and im finally getting around to really scoping the place out. In the course of creating this space here on lemmy, the thought occurred: ‘hey, these artists are in a rough spot, id love to commission work from them, have a backlog of stuff to do, but also I am in a very similar situation.’ … ‘idea, find the artists that don’t know what to draw, and just tell them the things id like to commission art of’. so that is how i got to perusing the #Art Block, tag on my favorite microblogging site. 10/10 can recommend.

TLDR what if we, go to the depressed gay artists site, and cheer them up a bit or something. Do you think they will drop art like a side quest? Yes 100% that is exactly how it works anyone can do it.

hmm…perhaps just pitching tumblr here a bit. its pretty straightforward. use reblogs like how you would likes and likes how you would bookmarks. talk to people if you want, #you can talk in the tags, #like this. make sure to change your profile picture right away. there is a bot problem. oh and be liberal with the block button. see aforementioned bot problem.

Its weird to think about but 2018 is almost as long ago now. They’re basically where MySpace was in 2013/4. When the fuck did we get old?

It started when both Harambe died and Trump happened in the same year. It was a horrific combo of wanting to check the internet while simultaneously actively avoiding it.

I thought tumblr was where ppl who think they are funny or clever go to add captions to things that are actually funny, and make them less funny through their stupid caption or commentary

No, it’s the last place on the internet that is actively curated instead of passively curated. You only see who you pick to follow. Can’t even blame the algorithm because there isn’t one.
