I don’t think that Threads or BlueSky really took off. I think the majority of people who haven’t outright deleted the app are still on Twitter.
“Bias automation” is kind of an accurate description for how our brains learn things too.
I don’t know either, but for some reason his name sends a shiver down my spine.
I like using a mall as a really basic analogy for the shared social space:
There are multiple entrances to the mall through various shops, but once you’re inside, you can go visit wherever you want.
Many artists aren’t appreciated in their time.
I stole this, and reverse image search isn’t being helpful…
I had to deal with their T&S for my account being locked once. It was indeed a nightmare.
I consider myself pretty reserved and knew that I had never said or shared anything even remotely problematic, so I appealed, and they denied the request without even looking at it, then refused to respond to further questions (or even tell me what I supposedly did). It took me publicly complaining about the whole ordeal on social media for about a week for someone at discord to notice, look at my case, and finally realize a mistake had been made and unlock my account. They still never explained what happened.
I think it’s much less intimidating to new users now compared to when I joined last year. The barrier to entry has been reduced significantly.
There are tons of active communities now, mobile apps that work great (this is a big one), and many more tools to block content that you don’t want to see.
Discord support is the absolute worst. I hope to never have to deal with them again.
Mine would probably love this… I’d feel weird buying something branded like this one though.
I hope so - best of luck!
Public opinion seems to be souring on all the big corporate social media sites, and I truly think if we’re able to get the word out about federated social media platforms, people will jump ship.
Also, it’s hard to dislike a platform that isn’t showing ads, selling user data, or generally making decisions for the enrichment of shareholders.
It’s because people like edge pieces of brownies, so this pan ensures that every piece has an edge.
Omg, you’re right.
The app devs didn’t expect this kind of problem, haha.
Ah, gotcha. It went right over my head… whoops. Lol
…is it a repost? I scrolled back a bit and didn’t see it.
(edit: oh wait, did you mean the original original post, like he’s stuck in a fish bowl?)
For anyone who sees this as an (understandably) confusing thing for someone to post, it’s a meta joke on /c/lemmyshitpost at the moment. Just trying to get ahead of any more reports.

…I guess you aren’t going to want any of these welcome cookies that we baked for you then. =(
