AFAIK they don’t use those in airports, at least not in the domestic flight area. I could see it being used at customs or something, although I think even in customs they usually have dogs sniffing for agricultural concerns like plants and seeds rather than drugs. The dogs you see near security theater checkpoints screening areas are all bomb sniffing dogs AFAIK.

It’s probably for bomb sniffing dogs, I’ve seen those at JFK and LAX along with those signs in the past. Like right near the cordoned off walkway they have set up for them to walk near everyone in line.

I wouldn’t call this a smoking gun; further down the thread on Bluesky, they say that they took this story to several reporters and none of them wanted to use it as a story, by their own admission because they didn’t really have much to prove a half remembered conversation.

All that said, none of it would surprise me if it was true and I remember it being speculated on at the time. I think it’s way more likely that one of Trump’s cronies would have exerted that pressure on reddit rather than Trump himself, just because reddit never seemed to hold a candle to Twitter for him.

Sorry, I’m not sure how to answer “how is measuring your credit worthiness based on your income a good way to determine how much to lend you.” I would think it’s pretty obvious that your capacity to repay a loan is dependent on your current income, not how many loans and credit cards you’ve had active in the past.
