  • Minecraft is deceptively hard on cpu and gpus for what the game appears to be. It looks simple, but that simplicity comes at the cost of very high computational loads due to how dynamic and interactive everything is. They add in new features pretty frequently for a game I bought 12 years ago. Those features aren’t free and they stress the system even more. Be happy it is playable at all on a phone - it’s nice that they added in tuning parameters to let your phone be capable of playing it instead of saying you need the newest RTX4090 just to get 30fps

  • I did get my phone app linked to the car. That was a whole ordeal… that involved Hertz maintenance supervisors.

The walkaway sensor is kind of like a virtual sensor made from multiple different components. Seat occupancy sensor, cabin camera, and bluetooth connection status are all used together to determine if you walk away from the car to lock it and turn off the headlights.

Something in that mess of components was broken because I found the car unlocked with the lights and heater on an hour later in the snow. Not fun when the nearest supercharger was fucking closed down. (On that note, wtf, Tesla?! The damn supercharger was on the map. Take it off the map if it isn’t functioning!)

  • Uhg I feel this one. I just cancelled a family subscription to apple plus, because they raised the rates again. It started at $15/mo now they want $26/mo. Nope. But that means I lose access to all the bullshit I play on my phone while pooping.

So I went to download a bunch of games I paid for back in the yesteryear where paying for apps was the norm. I go to open one and I am greeted with this fucking thing

I sure as hell didn’t consent to their collecting and selling my information when I bought the app years ago. And now it is too late to get a refund but I can’t use the app.

    Assholes.

  • As a software developer, I still struggle with windows fuckery. I have to manage about a dozen machines, each of which has different tasks, and sometimes they decide to just up and reboot for the mandatory update. While I am out of state.

Uhg. I spent time yesterday writing a windows service to perpetually send a WoL magic packet to those computers just to avoid this situation again. They may never shut off again.
