🤷♂️ I could spend that two hours with my kids.
You aren’t wrong, but as a community I think we should be listening carefully to the pain points and thinking about how we could make them better.

Gonna just stream of consciousness some stuff here:
Been thinking lately, especially as I have been self-hosting more, how much work is just managing data on disk.
Which disk? Where does it live? How does the data transit from here to there? Why isn’t the data moving properly?
I am not sure what this means, but it makes me feel like we are missing some important ideas around data management at personal scale.
Can you elaborate a bit on your setup? As someone running Jellyfin, curious how you’ve configured everything.
☝️ an excellent breakdown of the actual situation.

What’s wrong with you?
For emphasis, it’s a common practice in online text communication.
well, A+ for getting kids into Tears for Fears. - Gen Xer
edit: thank you for your front-line reporting 🤣
well, on the plus side, the killer is in jail now. It shouldn’t take national protests for that to happen, though.
I know: I will take this stupid idea and make money making fun of it.
This kinda content is garbage, just like the content it’s making fun of.
I should stop whining and just unsub. These videos are lame.
Sock puppet fuckup or what?
They can’t, this is bullshit, and we should sue as a class. Where tha lawyers at? (to tell my why I’m wrong, I have no idea what I’m talking about.)
cop almost killed a man because an acorn fell on the patrol car, just to make sure you’re up to date on the state of the US.
lol at the idea of 2019, or really anything post 2016 being a good year to go back to.
You are here, you are doing something. If they start with the bullshit we defederate them. (Or build new tech to keep corp influence in check, whatever we want.)
Point is: at some point me getting updates from Aunt Ethel matters a lot less to me than controlling my privacy and living my life without being advertised to every second.
Hi. With the utmost courtesy and respect: please look at the vote counts and feedback here.
At the least, in anything like its current form, we fediverse people don’t want this.
If people want to be on reddit, they can be. If they want their niche community on that site, they’re allowed. Trying to bridge content between sites that are potentially even antagonistic toward one another is not a good plan, no matter how virtuous your intentions.
I think in many cases China takes control of the infrastructure they built since the countries miss payments.
This was widely predicted to be the Chinese strategy: make loans to countries they knew could not pay with favorable terms for China when the country defaults.
This particular situation is getting ironed out.
I’m just saying that fining businesses for overtime doesn’t seem like the most hairbrained idea to me, it’s not “beyond fucking stupid.”
Why? I mean, fining the people that worked the overtime is pretty dumb, but fining a business for overtime makes sense to me: it would encourage businesses to right-size their staffs rather than push for overtime from overworked workers.
Edit: if you need overtime to make enough money, you need to join a union and agitate for a strike. More time at work isn’t the answer the world needs.
If Netflix is denying you access to the subscription you pay for because you’re using a VPN to connect, that starts to smell like a good class action to me.
Article II Section 3 says the president shall take care to execute the laws faithfully. I do not see how a president could issue an official illegal order.
