Stop with the doomerism.
“Lemmy is losing users” -> Lemmy has a stabilizing base of communities developing their own culture after a great exodus from several centralized platforms. Original, high quality content is finding its home here as users engage with one another on thousands of federated, interoperable, transparent websites.
I did edit it out, I didn’t realize they’d deadnamed her and while I’m fine with relaying drivel, I’m not fine with perpetuating deadnaming
It’s too funny, I can’t stop laughing at it.
It’s available on github too https://github.com/vector-im/element-x-android/releases/tag/v0.1.6
I respectfully have to disagree. They failed to bring relevant citations and evidence to support even basic claims such as why Nintendo and PC aren’t a part of the same market as PlayStation and Xbox, leaving the judge to argue that there was no reason to distinguish them without evidence to the contrary.
From what I’ve seen of the FTC, namely the lawsuit to stop the merger between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard, I’m doubtful of Khan’s ability to form a case. That said, even a failed lawsuit against them is more than the FTC’s done yet to combat a big tech company’s unquestionable dominance.
If my gut feeling that this is a doomed lawsuit is right, it’s hopefully the first of many so that’s okay.
Blockchain is a tool for scammers used for scamming, and has almost exclusively been used for such.
No, this is already solved without scam shit tied in.
It’s pretty bad when your CEO disparages your product that much. It’s like if Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said they’d be switching to Google Workspace because Microsoft Teams was inefficient and difficult to use.
Absolutely scathing.
It’s hard to overstate how bold and game-changing the NLRB’s decision to the benefit of worker’s rights to collective action and form a union. They’ve successfully ushered in a reignition of the labour movement.
Oh 100%. None of them authentically believe in the message of either song, and even Oliver Anthony can realize that despite the money they’re bringing in.
I saw someone the other day conclude he was probably a conservative plant, and i think there’s some truth to that, but I doubt he actually knew about it. Unfortunately though, he runs into a similar issue that a lot of poor conservatives do, thinking that those with even less than them are stealing from them their crumbs, but unlike them he also acknowledges that we only get crumbs in the first place.
Every time these conservatives start using someone’s music, it seems to always turn out that the artists actually really heavily oppose them. Funny how that is.
Why what?
That’s pretty explicitly antisemitic…
OnlyFans announced it too, but walked back on it later.
Ya, no, those people need psychological help. Not to feed the beast. This is nonsense.
Let’s not forget that these AI aren’t limited by age. Like fuck am I gonna be out here defending tech that would turn my kid into CSAM. Fucking disgusting.
You underestimate how important the feet are to many.
Forgive my ramblings, but here’s the main differences I see, from a community perspective:
Bluesky’s for people who loved twitter circa 2015
Mastodon’s for people who loved the format but hated the way the platform made use of it. The community is FOSS-focused and anti-corporate.
Bluesky folks are anti-corporate, but they still want their social media to be on a single platform and tend to dislike federation
Mastodon folks tend to be in smaller circles and more tech enthused
Features-wise, Mastodon kills the algorithm in favour of chronological timelines and lists, while Bluesky embraces algorithms, allowing people to even make their own algorithms for the platform. Bluesky’s AT Proto uses “DIDs” to identify users, which are associated directly with a domain[1]. This means that when federation does eventually happen, usernames will just be @my.domain.com instead of ActivityPub’s @actor@my.domain.com.
Federation’s still not enabled so I have no clue how things will look and feel on that front, nor am I familiar enough with the protocol to make any claim about how versatile it is. ActivityPub is flexible enough to be a Twitter clone, a reddit clone, a blogging platform, a youtube clone, a twitch clone, a goodreads clone, or several other formats. AT Proto’s currently only proven to work for a Twitter clone.
