    how did he have a receipt for what the person behind him would have wanted to order without asking her? Yeah, that happened…

      I thought about this too, but normally around here you’d order at the sign, pay at the first window, pick food up at the second window.

      Have you never been to a drive thru? Or do they work differently where you live, because the speaker box has never given me a receipt for my order. That would be weird since I wouldn’t have been able to pay yet.

      Anyway, yea, I actually believe that happened.

        I’ve been to drive thrus with 3 stages, speaker, payment, food. So I think what could happen is you go to the payment stage, tell the teller you want to pay for the person behind you, the person behind orders at the speaker box, you’re still at the teller so they can charge you for both, and then give you both receipts. You then go up to the food box while they’re at the teller box and since the food box is just told what to prepare, you show them both receipts and get both meals.

        I might be misremembering, but I think it’s technically possible.

        the ones i’ve been to have two windows. order in one, pick up/pay in the next. usually I pick up my order before the person behind me has finished ordering

      I also don’t understand the logistics but I’ve also never (actively) used a drive thru.
