He fell into a well, actually
Actually it was a tree, he fell into a tree from a great height
Accurate representation of wish fulfillment.
I guess he couldn’t see that well.
He fell into a well, actually
They didn’t.
Maybe I’m being dense, but I’m gonna need a mansplanation for this one.
Well, actually the joke is making fun of the way certain people explain things to people they think are dumber than them. But don’t you worry your pretty little noggin. We’ll make sure you understand this joke.
Struggling over whether to upvote, downvote, both, or neither 🤔
Interestingly, both, and neither do the same thing here.
Upvote, downvote, leftvote, rightvote?
Upvote, upvote, downvote, downvote, leftvote, rightvote, leftvote, rightvote, bvote, avote, startvote!
This is why you should have three lemmy accounts: One to upvote, one to downvote, and one to do neither.
I feel like some effort could be saved on that third one by not actually making the account until the “neither” button is added ;P
I think it’s a play on “well, actually blah blah blah fact maybe” rebuttals.
Hate when I catch myself "Well, actually"ing. I’ll either try to reword it to not sound so dickish or I’ll discard it if I think it’s not actually helpful or interesting.

Just omit either “well” or “actually”. Maybe swap both for “surprisingly” or “unfortunately” depending on the context of the correction. I understand the struggle :(
I think I’ve eliminated the “[well, ]actually” from my speech patterns (unless using it sparingly for comedic effect) due to the memes as well. Turns out the dumb internet image macros can have a positive impact after all.
Another version (extra cold, I think!):
Did you hear about the mansplainer who fell into a hole?
It was a well, actually.
That makes a lot more sense and now is actually funny.
Yours actually makes sense. At least written anyway, if you say the joke I’m sure you could emphasise the “Well, actually…” just right.
on mastodon, saying anything as a guy is mansplaining

That deserved its own post.
