Her official cause of death wasn’t revealed. Her diet did seem risky but too early to link it.

I have my doubts, it’s not a great variety I’m nutrients and it wouldn’t be an ideal overall diet, but I am very doubtful that it killed her.

Her diet was severely lacking in vital nutrients. When you have so much fibre and so little dense calories, for a decade, that adds up.

Yeah but the immediate cause of death will be something else.

As an example, smoking generally does not kill you. It prepares your body to be trivially killed a by a plethora of other things, such as cancer or 2 tons in the face when you were distracted while driving because your cig fell into your lap. But the smoking itself isn’t the proximate cause of the death.

Eh true but considering she didn’t drink water (only coconut) and caught some cholera disease, well, that’s a recipe for disaster. That would be dangerous no matter for how long what kind of diet, cholera dehydrates you fast and you need to replenish electrolytes too.

She probably just didn’t eat enough. Apparently she only ate jackfruit. You can definitely stay healthy with fruit and veggies but you need to eat a lot of it and take B12 supplements. Especially if you don’t eat high carb food like potatoes or rice, since most vegetables aren’t very energy dense.

So really her diet being vegan is only because she ate 1 type of food for 7 years… Thats nothing to do with being vegan, it has everything to do with being silly.

But ofc British tabloids are always there just to cause controversy and not offer any real value to spread information.

Thank you! A better title would be “Influencer dies of malnutrition induced by eating disorder”

Which is something we should talk about but not blame on the vEgaNS

Yeah looking over the pictures and reading over her ‘diet’, it sounds like an eating disorder. And if she caught a disease I can’t imagine her body haven’t much energy to fight it.

      From the Post article :

A proponent of uncooked herbivorous fare, the Kasan native claimed she ate a “completely raw vegan diet” for the last four years, consuming just “fruits, sunflower seed sprouts, fruit smoothies, and juices.”

I mean she lasted 10 years on the diet, is the diet really to blame or is cholera to blame? Like I guess maybe she didn’t wash a few of them thoroughly enough and caught it? It does raise a lot of questions.

She definitely doesn’t look healthy in the later photos, but is that because she’s sick? There isn’t really enough information provided in the article other than her friends being concerned.

The answer is “Yes”. And no it doesn’t raise a lot of questions, tbh.

If you eat badly - no matter which way - your body is automatically weaker and less able to withstand hardship.

Make it weak enough, and then find the right hardship, and congralations, you are now dead.

Note that both of these are on a sliding scale: You can eat 100% healthy, a hardship such as a nuclear bomb exploding while pressed on your eyeball will still do you in. You can have the worst of diets for years, and as long as nothing at all immediately threatens you, you’ll survive. And somewhere in between, Zhanna managed to make her body weak enough that a simple cholera infection did her in.

Right sure, but making your body weaker isn’t the same as starving to death is it? People have bad diets all the time, but we don’t directly attribute those diets to their death, but the article here specifically says starved to death, but there isn’t much evidence of that shown.

Looking at her stick figure arms, she starved herself like every other person with an eating disorder. Just that her disorder was disguised as “a food choice” and that she had a huge following that did not help her even at a point when everyone could see her melting away not just the family. I hope people who cheered her on feel bad now, but they probably just change to the next person with an eating disorder.

Being vegan or eating a more special diet is not a problem as long as you get a regular check up at your doctor, have a basic knowledge about nutrition and monitor your weight so it stays at a healthy point, she clearly didn’t. She consulted her fans instead. Sad. My heart goes out to her family and friends.

Friends also said she refused to get medical attention before her death, and described how she was bed bound and struggled to walk, according to local media.

They also claimed she had not drunk any water for six years, choosing instead to drink fruit and vegetable juice.

What a dumb way to die. It’s totally possible to be fine on a plant based diet but definitely not if you only eat raw fruit and vegetables without even drinking water.

As a vegoon, it’s the diet. The diet most likely killed her.

Her diet wasn’t fucked up because of veganism itself. It was fucked up because of the way she approached eating plant-based.

Yeah, a lot of people don’t seem to realize that cooking food is a MAJOR component of what exploded our evolution. Cooking food allows us to digest it much better and receive far more nutrition.

many of her devoted followers refused to believe her eating choices led to her death, instead claiming that she was killed by chemicals in the fruit she ate.

    The durians fought back!
