Welcome and enjoy your stay! Feel free to DM for any questions about Lemmy or Federation in general!
I mostly agree with this. Here’s how I use the Fediverse:
I have an account on every instance that I want to browse, while keeping my own personal instance up in the first tab. I browse multiple instances, and when it comes time to comment, I just add the post to my own instance and comment away.
I use all the other accounts as lurker accounts. That way, my identity on Lemmy is consistent but I still get to browse anything I want without worrying about everything federating properly.
Just use a cloudflare tunnel. It’s free and can be used on pretty much any network that sends and receives data.
Refreshing sources will always be permanently engrained in my vision as if I was looking directly into the sun.
The release of the iPhone and iPod touch was such a special time for me. The jailbreaking scene was just getting started and it started my life long fascination with tinkering with technology.
As a UI/UX designer myself (hobbyist, to be clear), I really like it.
There seems to be this notion in the homebrew/FOSS/Linux community that “wasted space” is always non-preferable. I can see this being true for some people, but I feel like a lot of people and band wagoning this opinion.
It’s pretty universally known and accepted in the design community that padding is extremely important when it comes to helping your brain read and separate content. And to be fair, most non-tech people prefer space and padding in their applications to make things easier to understand.
I can be entirely off base here, but TLDR: I like padding and it’s literally beneficial to helping your brain understand the layout of what you’re looking at better.
I think you’re overthinking this. Twitter used to be a place where I could keep up with my friends. Now, it’s a place filled with many forms of hate. Because of this, I no longer wish to use it, so I left.
I personally have no care in the world for what happens with Twitter. Why should I? It becomes overrun with bigots? So what?
Remaining on a platform filled with hate is an indicator that you’re ok with that. I am not, so I left. end of story.
Love this channel, love that you guys over here love it as well. Thanks for being cool, beehaw.
I would say this: If it’s just you accessing your server and nobody else, self-hosting is fine.
When it comes to giving other people access to your server, no matter how close of friends you may be, I would recommend renting a cheap VPS online. The security benefits are just that much better.
It’s a ghost. Always sleep with a vacuum.
INFO: Was it charging the whole time?
I love how stock android looks but agree that it’s become too iPhone like. One UI has become a great balance!
I was going to post a comment similar to this. We’ve made history here!
HI YOUTUBE!
The o is a head and the 7 is an arm. It’s meant to look like somebody performing a salute.
ie: Marine Captain Space Ranger Robert, reporting for duty, sir! o7
How stupid can you be? They were literally told ahead of time that the information was incorrect, and they doubled down anyway! Not admitting you’re wrong is an epidemic and seriously needs to be taught more to children if we have any hope for the future.
I think so, it looks better and is easier to read.
I’ve been trying it out. Of course there’s still a bit of polish to add, but the overall look and feel is exactly what I was looking for in a Lemmy reader app. Simplistic, large, clear text. I really love how the action/respond buttons dont appear until you tap the comment. Super intuitive.
The only thing missing is 0.18 support, which isn’t really a complaint considering it just started rolling out earlier today. That’s what I get for being on the bleeding edge I guess.
I didn’t know I can let out a sigh that large. Wow, surprised myself.
A fellow alt texter!!! The blind community appreciates you. (I’m not blind, just an ally)
