Infinite growth unsustainable??? / Always has been……
It will just encourage others to find a home on other instances which is good for the fediverse ecosystem it’s not a bad thing :)
Eh, if the issues mean a more focused audience remains part of the platform I’m down for that. I’d rather a smaller group of more dedicated people than an absolutely massive group of people where only the loudest voices are heard.
Not sure if this is meant to be negative or positive but I for one like all the growing pains and issues. It makes the whole experience a little more engaging for me. I really like reading up on what problems are happening and how the teams are working towards solutions. I especially like the technical details that are just a little over my head because it’s fun to learn about!
In one of the posts a couple days ago the developer of wefef stated that the app is getting rate limited by lemmy.world servers because so many people are using it. I think they were trying to resolve it but I am still getting the same issue occasionally. It’s just growing pains of the whole ecosystem & totally expected and normal. I’m happy to be an early adopter of all this stuff and watching it grow and mature will be an exciting adventure!
For real! I hope the devs and everyone else involved know that growing pains are fine and totally acceptable. I know I’m not upset in the slightest - if anything it’s more fun because some stuff might be broken or there’s more posts to read about how the update didn’t work entirely or broke something else. It’s kinda fascinating to me as someone who knows very little when it comes to servers and hosting and whatnot.
Yeah…and how much was that phone? Like $2k USD. That’s not okay in the slightest. It’s okay to get a lemon item from amazon because we all know its cheap crap, but for a $2k phone!!? Hell no. How about google or whoever is manufacturing this thing do some proper QC and R&D and not sell shitty two thousand dollar phones??
Yep that’s why you never buy the first generation of a new product!
I’m very satisfied as well. It feels like a small group of people just hanging out and the negativity is almost nonexistent - in my experience so far. I feel like with a mass of people like Reddit that the negativity kinda bubbles to the top.
Something something if a user is subscribed to a community on another instance only then will it cross populate or something like that?
And the conversation quality in the fediverse is fantastic!
If we could get a vim version of lemmy in some way that would be awesome!
I like to watch Brandon Butch on Youtube doing his thing for the beta releases for the new iOS 17 coming later in the year. I understand why he does, but every single time it’s “Check out the new wallpapers!” like okay…? That’s great, but definitely not a new OS feature 🙄
Personally, I love the clutter-free design of lemmy.world it’s a good mix of looking pretty without being too empty.
That being said, this is a refreshing take after reading through some of the top comments. I wish more people were a little more level-headed like this.
Maybe there could be other instances with different themes that appeal more to the casual reddit user? I’m still not sure how the themes work when it comes to Lemmy and its instances.
Yeah my many years as a cashier makes my cashiering efforts VERY expensive. Due to my experience, my effort is worth atleast the price of that Vita Coco!
I literally throw one or two sometimes a few things in the bag every time i use one of these as compensation for my efforts. I make it look accidental too by sliding it over the scanner and throwing it in there without skipping a beat. Maybe if they hired cashiers who need the work they would do better on their shrink targets.
I really like his videos but those past ones about the pinball machines would put me to sleep so fast! I’m glad he’s doing another photography topic!
