I wonder if it’s just instances going down for a while, I know the one i am on goes down every now and then, and sometimes takes over a week to get back and running. I could see something like that causing the active users to fluctuate, especially if they wait a month before realizing their instance wasn’t deleted.

It should be more apt to apply that any sufficiently advanced being is going to value harmony not disorder which would lead to instability and eventual collapse, hence why it would be an apt litmus test to see if a society would be capable of responsibly utilizing any of their technology. The fact so many are just like “well I like tech” and someone’s gonna say a group so I should say a small minority is extremely sad to see being a common take. I would hope more would recognize the implications behind such an ask, but I guess in this small sample size that’s not the case.

Based on the way the meme plays off, the only practical way to get the tech would show you value life over technology, hence the option for none, if it’s not a consensus for none how could you expect that species to act responsible with the tech and hence the tattooing and leaving.

Based on the fact they tattoo your answer afterwards, the only way you would have gotten technology is by voting none in a consensus showing you value life over technology, therefore your more likely to be responsible with it, vote on anything other than none and you have voided your ability to be responsible hence no technology. The fact this is not a more common interpretation is honestly disheartening.

The point is more relevant when your work hardware is trash. My work machine has 16gb of ram and a quad core, my personal pc is a 12core, with 64gb of ram. If I could get at least 32gb of ram at work, I’d mind less, but it’s a pain in the ass with my current setup.

I mean not really once costal areas flood and the locations best for growing food change we will see massive issues with humanity surviving, the rest of the ecosystem would adapt, migrate and evolve to survive. Hell even chernobyl basically shows us even if we went the full nuclear option wildlife would bounce back better than before with just maybe shortened life expectancies. We are a lot more prone to die from changes than the wildlife on this planet is.

Least we forget the US is like the only country who won’t recycle their nuclear waste. We have enough sitting to generate power for like 140 years. Waste isn’t useless it can still be reprocessed…
