Not sure whether this implementation will be lighter on resources than what Lemmy currently uses. Given the overhead of the JVM though, it’s unlikely it will be supported by, say, a single Raspberry Pi

In a similar fashion, it would be great to find a way to migrate your post history, not just your followers, between one service and another. So far it’s possible to request a backup, but only a few services allow importing said backup, let alone import a backup from a different provider (so far only Firefish, Pixelfed and its derivatives allow for the latter).
I’d love to move to mainstream Misskey, but there’s a core reason why I’m using Firefish at the moment, namely the ability to actually import my old posts from Mastodon. To my knowledge, pretty much nothing supports importing posts in the Fediverse, except for Firefish and forks, Friendica and forks (to an extent), and PixelFed.
Well, if you talk about the newest AI-powered UTAU voicebanks, that’s because the developers finally thought about crossing the streams, and instead of having the singers merely pronounce syllables in several pitches, they used that data (expanded to also include several syllable clusters) to train an AI. Unlike most trained AI models, where the voice samples are recorded from live performances, so they vary in quality and on data points for each individual syllable, these have the full set of voice training data prerecorded by design, so the quality of every possible combination of phonemes is as clear as possible.
If you use Docker, somebody has been taking the effort of wrapping the new Rust-based self-hosted sync server into a Docker recipe: https://github.com/jeena/fxsync-docker
I’m currently using YunoHost behind CG-NAT with a Wireguard VPS bypass, but plan on moving to a Dockerized setup soon because of YNH still using an outdated version of Debian. What do you recommend me to keep my setup as similar to YNH?
You can always try searching on Trending Communities or New Communities, that’s where I’ve found many new interesting communities to follow and I have both of them on my RSS feed to ensure I don’t miss any news. In related topics, the main Wordpress.com site is finally enabling ActivityPub so expect many blogs to start interacting with the Fediverse and, who knows, directly cross-posting to Lemmy.
At least in my country, bus drivers that need to help people in the wheelchair to get up on the bus are already at the edge of their patience. Don’t even talk about helping them stuff seven bags of groceries as well. That’s why unfortunately, taxis are still a necessity
Or you can pronounce it “heef” as in Spanish, just saying
My only complaint is that each individual blog administrator must learn about this addon and enable it. So subscribing to a given blog in the hopes of having AP support is literally trial and error.
Been boycotting the media for about a decade. It frankly makes it difficult to make small talk when you refuse to know about the latest trends that Big Media sells to the populace
My setup is similar, but what I have is one UPS for the things that shouldn’t go down in case of power outage (the modem and server) and another for everything else in my room that can go down for a while without much loss (the computer, consoles, screen, etcetera)
There are a few promising leads in sodium, graphene, and liquid hydrogen batteries. And yeah that includes salt batteries as well
The sad thing about having to live with your parents in this economy, is that I can’t possibly take a proper vacation day. If I did, my mom would most certainly use it to get me to do some extra chores. Even if I went to a hotel, half of the time would be spent unpacking and the other half repacking.
Plus, I suppose that the small size of the payload will make the potential for widespread radiation poisoning lower in case of an accident.
I mean, if it’s because of legal reasons, wouldn’t they request KYC paperwork before depositing the first bet instead of after? You know, since handling dirty money is still a crime even if the money is locked in the casino
I was using OG SearX for the longest time, it was only until very recently that I discovered that:
Curiously enough, the “start” button is now more of a “pause” button. Sometimes also a “skip cutscene” and “open menu” button. Microsoft was into something by actually renaming it to “menu” in the Xbox, since that’s what it’s used for nowadays. Sony probably chose to call it “options” on the PS4 onwards solely to avoid being sued for plagiarism.
About the only palliative measure I can think about is to disengage from society completely, as it’s no longer possible to correct it, and go live in the middle of nowhere until the planet eventually goes to hell. Or until society decides to go fully nihilistic and self-terminate.
