Putin, please stop this war without demands.
Putin, please stop this war without demands.
Are they required by law or something to send those out? It is almost like needing to reconfirm your cookie in the webbrowser
Well, it is the many against the few rich. It is everyones planet.
I actually dont understand why we not do something drastic. I mean like ban cars and planes. We can still get around. Just not at the same speed at the moment. Someone will come up with a better idea then gas cars.
We also need to think about computers. Why throw them away? We could just make better software and keep the devices for a very, very long time. Heck, very bad computer could land on the moon…
If there is a problem at low power usage then you can easily solve it by temporary add more power. Lets say add a 40watt lamp or something, later remove it from the calculation.
Reason?
That is something that should be possible: Choosing a backup sync server that have my data(profile). I hope they implement that
I can see that threads.net may harm the Fediverse. But, there might be some people that don’t like the threads client and want to use the fediverse to interact with them. This will divide us. Also, trying to have a standard were threads.net is blocked is very hard to spread. Maybe has to be default on the server side, or even better, a subscription.
I actually don’t care about what reddit did. But I care about that the client is so much faster without all the ads, bloat they put in. Here Lemmy wins and it is Reddit fault they are so greedy and not caring about the user.
Because it can be used against you in one way or another. You never know were the data end up at. It could leak or the government force them to give the data and lower your score in any system.
Yes, you can write bad code and that matters most. Rust is more low level than high level language. Rust is new so not much bloat library has been written yet :) So far I have seen many lean Rust applications in the open source world. Please note I used the word “should” - no guarantees.
SQLite makes minimum memory usage much lower than MySQL. Many that would selfhost this is just for one single user and don’t need a standalone database
I can image that the application itself for doing this would not require much ram at all but having a MySQL requires much more ram usage in order of magnitudes.
I love it is written in Rust. Should mean fast and efficient, low memory usage.
Edit: It uses MySQL as database so it is heavy.
Save in terms on load I mean CPU usage. The question is how much money they will save by we utilize this instead. I does think it is as heavy like ChatGPT or anything like that.
Personally i dont save password in the browser. I use keepassxc and the web extension to the browser. But Firefox sync for all Firefox settings, sending tabs etc.
How much will we save on the production Mozilla Firefox servers in terms of load?
Keepassxc + syncthing to phone in read only mode and to other machine. So 3 copies on different machine, while one of them is on me
I think 3 nodes are required for that
It is so funny how stuiped people are as they can’t see they are the reason. In China they need to wear masks due to the pollution makes the air unbreathable. They also burn coal to get electricity to run AC, especial now with the heat weaves.
You can on a website with HTML 5 specify exactly the font and how it should be interpreted. Those look exactly the same. Good. But if they are not use then often some old font names are used with no more info than size. If nothing specified then browser default font is used. But what about anti-aliasing and handling the hinting? It is about trick the eye to think something is very round when it in reality it built based on squared pixels. Microsoft Truetype was a must when you made the transition from CRT screens to LCD screens. I have seen websites were the text makes the column wider, into the need row and messing up the whole websites layout due to this. I think what it all comes down is that Microsoft old fonts are therefore still used a lot. On Android it is all okey due to we have such high DPI screens.
Yes, over the last years fonts have improved a lot, making the Desktop look good.
Sure, backup is not something you can skip, but the others: Yes. And the backup option should show other alternatives like Veeam, otherwise they are abusing their position in the market and be banned from EU.
Yes, they dont respect the user choose either. Thinking it is their computer.
Shifting to Linux is a solution but not for everyone. Like IT only support Windows computers to minimize cost.
Me at home: If only I could pay someone to build as smooth fonts on Linux as it is on Windows in the web browser by default. Only when websites use fully custom fonts they look good. But default with new Times roman get unusual small or big without truetype etc. Also many applications in the Linux world have poor UI due to poor funding. Result is no designer and gigantic hit area for button due to too far between the buttons.
Just stop supporting the biggest actor in the market.
